Trademark & IP
Your brand is one of your most valuable assets, and we help you register your trademark with the UAE Ministry of Economy and protect it with a clear, transparent plan from the start.
A trademark is the legal protection that ties your name, logo or slogan to your business, and it is what stops a competitor from trading on the goodwill you have built. In the UAE, trademarks are registered with the Ministry of Economy (now part of the Ministry of Economy and Tourism), and a registered mark gives you the exclusive right to use it for the goods and services you have classified it under. Without registration, your brand sits exposed, and putting it right after a dispute is far more expensive than protecting it early.
Noorulnasr is an independent, bilingual business-setup consultancy based in Al Qusais, Deira. We sit down with you in plain English (and Arabic), check whether your mark is available, classify it correctly, and guide the application through to registration with transparent, indicative costs and no hidden fees. Government fees change often, so every figure we quote is labelled indicative and confirmed in writing before you commit. We are not a government body and we cannot guarantee that a mark will be accepted, but we prepare your file properly and explain each step. WhatsApp us and we will walk you through it.
Exclusive rights to your brand
A registered trademark gives you the legal right to use your name, logo or slogan for your classified goods and services, and a clear basis to act against copycats and counterfeiters.
The right classes, first time
We help you choose the correct Nice classification classes for what you actually sell, so your protection covers your real activities and you avoid paying to refile later.
Availability check before you file
We carry out a search so you know whether your mark is likely to clash with an existing registration before you commit time and government fees to an application.
Transparent, indicative costs
You get a clear breakdown up front. Government and registry fees change often, so we label every figure indicative and confirm an exact quote in writing before you proceed.
One bilingual point of contact
From the first search through publication, registration and renewal reminders, you deal with one team that speaks your language and answers on WhatsApp.
How UAE trademark registration works
In the UAE, trademarks are registered through the Ministry of Economy (moet.gov.ae), and a single application covers one class of goods or services under the international Nice classification. If your business sells across several categories, you may need more than one application, which is why getting the classes right at the start matters so much. The typical journey runs from an availability search, to filing, to examination by the registry, to publication for opposition, and finally to registration with a certificate. A registered mark in the UAE is generally protected for ten years and can then be renewed.
We start every engagement with a search so you understand the risk of a clash before you spend on fees, then we draft and file the application, classify your goods and services, and track it through examination and publication. Your trademark sits alongside the rest of your setup, so it pairs naturally with your trade licence and the activities you have registered. Whether you run a mainland company or a free zone company, your brand protection works the same way and should be in place before you invest heavily in marketing it. We cannot promise a mark will be accepted, since the decision rests with the registry, but we prepare a clean, well-classified file to give it the best chance.
Protecting your brand alongside your wider business
A trademark is one part of looking after a business properly in the UAE, and it works best when the rest of your foundations are in order. Most mainland activities have allowed 100% foreign ownership since 2021 under Federal Decree-Law 26/2020, though not all; strategic or restricted sectors may still need an Emirati partner, and some professional licences and foreign branches need a Local Service Agent who holds 0% equity, as set out by the UAE government (u.ae). Note that an offshore company is for holding and international use only and cannot trade inside the UAE, although it can still own intellectual property.
Your brand also sits next to your tax and compliance obligations. UAE Corporate Tax is 0% on taxable income up to AED 375,000 and 9% above it (Federal Decree-Law 47/2022, for financial years from 1 June 2023), CT registration is required, late registration carries a fixed AED 10,000 penalty, and you file and pay within nine months of your period end (tax.gov.ae). VAT is 5% standard, with mandatory registration at AED 375,000 of taxable supplies and voluntary registration from AED 187,500. Our accounting, VAT and Corporate Tax team keeps these on track, while our PRO and government services desk handles the paperwork around your filings. If you are still deciding on a structure, our free zone vs mainland comparison and our cost estimator are good places to start, or simply message us.
Costs, timelines and what we are honest about
There is no single fixed price for a trademark, because it depends on how many classes you need and the registry fees at the time of filing. Official government fees change often, so any figure we share is clearly labelled indicative and confirmed in writing before you commit; we will never quote a final number without checking the current registry tariff first. The same honesty applies across our services: any free-zone package prices we mention are indicative ranges, not official tariffs, and we always recommend you request an exact quote before deciding.
We are an independent consultancy, not a government department, and we do not control outcomes. We cannot guarantee that a trademark will be registered, that an opposition will fail, or that any related corporate bank account or residence visa will be approved, because those decisions rest with the relevant authorities and institutions. What we promise is a properly prepared file, a clear plan, plain-English explanations in Arabic too, and transparent costs with no hidden fees. Message us on WhatsApp and we will look at your brand, run an initial search, and set out the realistic next steps.
Frequently asked questions
Why should I register a trademark in the UAE?
Registration gives you the exclusive legal right to use your name, logo or slogan for the goods and services you classify it under, and a clear basis to act against copycats and counterfeiters. Without it, your brand is exposed, and fixing a dispute after the fact is far more expensive than registering early. We start with an availability search so you know where you stand before you spend on fees.
How many classes do I need?
It depends on what you actually sell. Trademarks are filed by class under the international Nice classification, and a single application covers one class. If your business spans several categories, you may need more than one application. We map your real activities to the correct classes before filing so your protection matches your business and you do not pay to refile later. Message us and we will advise.
How long does protection last?
A registered trademark in the UAE is generally protected for ten years from registration and can then be renewed. We keep a note of your renewal dates and remind you in good time, so your brand protection does not lapse by accident while you are busy running the business.
What will it cost to register my trademark?
There is no single price, because it depends on how many classes you file and the registry fees at the time. Government and registry fees change often, so we always label any figure indicative and confirm an exact quote in writing before you commit. Any free-zone package prices we mention elsewhere are indicative ranges, not official tariffs. Try our cost estimator or read our cost to set up a business in Dubai guide.
Can you guarantee my trademark will be approved?
No, and you should be cautious of anyone who promises that. The decision to register a mark, or to uphold or reject an opposition, rests with the registry at the Ministry of Economy, not with us. What we do is run a proper search, classify your goods and services correctly, and submit a clean application to give it the best realistic chance. We will always be straight with you about the risks before you file.
Are you affiliated with the Ministry of Economy or the government?
No. Noorulnasr is an independent, private consultancy based in Al Qusais, Deira. We are not a government body and we hold no special endorsement; we simply prepare your file correctly, explain each step in plain English and Arabic, and keep your costs transparent with no hidden fees. The registration itself is decided by the relevant authority. WhatsApp us to get started.
